Substitutes
Are You Ready to Become a Substitute for a District?
Each participating district hires its own substitutes. To apply to the district and be board-approved, all employees of a school district must be fingerprinted for the NYSED OSPRA Database. Districts that substitutes apply to will direct them as to where fingerprinting can be completed.
Apply to Become A Substitute
Substitute teachers, teaching assistants and nurses are in high demand and needed on an ongoing basis.
Selected applicants will be subject to a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001. The applicant will also be responsible for the cost of the required fingerprinting.
Teacher assistant substitutes are hired via the school district’s human resource offices.
Apply to become a substitute in OHM BOCES classes and/or up-to 12 NYS schools.
