Harvest of the Month
Students at Clinton Elementary School had the opportunity to try purple potato soup for January’s Harvest of the Month, a farm-to-school initiative administered through the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Food Service program.
The Clinton Elementary School has been participating in the Harvest of the Month initiative for several years. Each month, the school’s kitchen manager, Ms. Debbie, selects a recipe featuring a locally-grown item and prepares it for sampling during each of the student lunch periods.
The Harvest of the Month for January was potatoes, which were used to make purple potato soup. Previous months’ items have included beets, pears, squash, kale, yogurt and more.
