Outside of the open enrollment period, you can make changes if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period due to a qualifying life event.

Examples of qualifying life events include: 

• Moved to a new area
• Got married
• Lost coverage
• Got divorced
• Had a baby or adopted
• Had errors enrolling
• Changed your income
• Gained citizenship
• Aged off a parent's plan
• Lost student health insurance
• Death

Any changes to your insurance policies during a special enrollment period must be accompanied by: 

• a documented qualifying change in family status (marriage, divorce, birth, death, etc) AND;
• must be processed within 30 days of the qualifying event.

At the OHM BOCES, the open enrollment period for health and dental insurance is June 1 through June 30 of each year, with an effective date of July 1.
