OHM SkillsUSA Hosts Demonstration to Promote Vehicle Safety

On October 16, the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison chapter of SkillsUSA hosted the New York State Police Seatbelt Convincer and Rollover Demonstration to raise awareness about vehicle safety. SkillsUSA has organized this important event annually since 2016, following the tragic loss of a CTE student in a car crash.

The demonstrations highlighted the critical importance of wearing a seatbelt at all times, no matter where a passenger is seated in the vehicle. Several students had the opportunity to ride in the Seatbelt Convincer, experiencing an impact at approximately 5 MPH. Additionally, students witnessed firsthand the dangers of rollover accidents and how passengers can be ejected from a vehicle during such events.
