During its September 9 regular meeting, the Cooperative Board of the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES made the decision to temporarily suspend Board Policy 1002: Community Use of Board Of Cooperative Educational Services Facilities until Wednesday, January 13, 2021 due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Board Policy 1002 allows OHM BOCES facilities to be utilized by non-BOCES community groups and organizations for a variety of uses approved under New York State Education Law.
In order to best ensure the health and safety of OHM BOCES students and staff, it is necessary for the organization to prioritize the use of its facilities by its own programs and services at this time. The OHM BOCES ability to provide in-person and hands-on instruction remains a priority and the organization’s capacity to continue providing learning opportunities in this way is dependent on preventing the spread of COVID-19 within OHM BOCES and the local community. Suspending community use of OHM BOCES facilities will minimize the number of visitors to campus and help to maintain the safest possible physical environment by further limiting the potential for COVID-19 exposures.
The OHM BOCES looks forward to welcoming community groups and organizations back to its campus once it is safe and feasible to do so.
The OHM BOCES thanks all of its community partners for their support and understanding as they work together to continue serving students and schools throughout the pandemic.
