Alumni Spotlight: Jenna Konyak
The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Regional Program for Excellence helped Jenna Konyak get a jumpstart on her career and explore some great, local organizations.
“The Regional Program for Excellence helped me to understand that I wanted to work with people and make a difference,” said Konyak. “It taught me to explore my options and pick what I thought would make me happiest. It also taught me that the first try is not always the final. I originally had dreams of being a CEO in the food industry, but with the confidence to explore my true passions, I learned that I was meant to enhance the lives of college-aged students.”
A 2008 graduate of the Whitesboro Central School District, Konyak continued her education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Siena College in 2012 and a master’s degree in student affairs in higher education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership Studies at Northeastern University.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, Konyak embarked on a whirlwind journey gaining six years of experience working in higher education and finally leading her to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she continue to add her love of business into her daily work.
In her current role as Associate Director for Housing and OneCard Operations, Konyak oversees the daily functions of all residence halls on campus -- ensuring they are safe and accessible, as well as managing all housing selection and assignment processes and maintaining all hall openings and closings.
“As a lifelong learner, I cannot wait to see where my career takes me. I truly believe that the Regional Program for Excellence accelerated my love for and interest in what I do.”
