Speaker Addresses Dangers of Vaping

Vaping Presentation 2020 On Feb. 6, the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Career and Technical Education Center welcomed guest speaker Cortney Kleek, a prevention specialist from the Center for Family Life and Recovery, for a presentation about the dangers of Juuling, vaping and e-cigarettes.

Kleek spoke to CTE students about the facts and myths surrounding Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS), the hazardous chemicals that can be found in the devices and the devastating effects they can have on the human body. During the presentations, she encouraged students to “make good choices” and be brave enough to stand up to pressures from their peers.

The presentation was organized by the OHM BOCES chapter of SkillsUSA because of the prevalence of e-cigarette use that has recently become widespread among teenagers nation-wide.
