In addition to the programs and services offered at the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES main campus in New Hartford, OHM BOCES also provides specialized programs in several component school districts for local students.
Students from Ms. Marley’s 12:1:1 class at Sauquoit Valley High School participate in job site experiences throughout the community to learn the basics of working at different jobs. Every four weeks, the students rotate through a different job site exploring potential job interests and developing the social skills necessary to be successful in future jobs.
Students recently gained job experience at Pet Supplies Plus in New Hartford and Lincoln Davies Building Supply in Sauquoit. During their job rotation at Pet Supplies Plus, students completed maintenance tasks, stocked shelves, cleaned fish tanks and rearranged store inventory. At Lincoln Davies, students moved inventory, restocked shelves and were able to complete several maintenance activities. At the conclusion of the job rotation at Lincoln Davies, owners Ed and Joanne Jones gave each student a Lincoln Davies hoodie to thank them for their hard work.
Opportunities like these job site experiences provided by our community business partners help OHM BOCES to ensure that all students have the tools they need to achieve their individual career goals.
