SkillsUSA Area II Kick-Off
The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES hosted the 2019 SkillsUSA Area II Kick-Off on Oct. 23.
The Area II Kick-Off serves as an opportunity for SkillsUSA members and advisors from Area II, which encompasses technical schools and BOCES programs from throughout Central New York, to get together and review the SkillsUSA Framework at the beginning of each school year.
Students in attendance participated in leadership training activities led by SkillsUSA state officers, including Historian Luke Stell from OHM BOCES, Reporter Oliva DeVoe from Adirondack High School and Area II Vice President Mellissa Locke from Broome-Tioga BOCES.
While the students worked on their leadership skills, SkillsUSA advisors had their own meeting and training session in the Overlook Room.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry professionals working together to offer leadership and citizenship development to complement students’ career and technical education (CTE) skills training. Chapters and their members are also able to participate in local, state and national SkillsUSA competitions.
