OHM BOCES Earns Eight Awards in NYSPRA Contest
The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES was recognized with eight awards in the New York School Public Relations Association’s (NYSPRA) 2019 Annual Communications Awards, a state contest to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement in educational communications. Three of the honors were an Award of Excellence, the highest level of recognition, and five were an Award of Honor, the second place level of recognition.
Awards of Excellence were earned in the Special Purpose Publication category for both the OHM BOCES Career & Technical Education Center’s 2019-20 Program Guide created by Senior Graphic Artist Cheri Derdzinski, and the OHM BOCES Service Directory 2019-20 created by the OHM BOCES School Communications Service. Also earning an Award of Excellence was the photograph “Living in Harmony,” taken for the Utica City School District by Graphic Design Artist Carly Wright.
Awards of Honor were earned in the categories of Overall Graphics and Design and Calendar for the Utica City School District’s 2018-19 District Calendar, School Spirit. The calendar was photographed and designed by Wright and Graphic Services Supervisor Andrea Rafferty.
Receiving Awards of Honor in the Excellence in Writing category were three articles by Public Relations Specialist Rebecca Neary: “Valedictorian and Salutatorian Add Artwork to Frankfort-Schuyler Halls,” written for the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District; "Community Transition Activities Helping AHS Students Prepare for Future," written for the Oriskany Central School District; and "Remsen CSD Accepts Rachel's Challenge to Be Kind," written for the Remsen Central School District.
