Students Explore Healthcare Careers during SABA Summer Youth Employment Program
More than 20 students celebrated their completion of the Health Careers Summer Youth Employment Program during a ceremony on August 8 at the Mohawk Valley Health System’s (MVHS) St. Luke’s Campus.
The 20-day program, offered by the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES’ School and Business Alliance (SABA) and the Oneida County Workforce Development program, offers paid summer employment for eligible high school students.
The program provides students with the opportunity to explore healthcare careers and gain valuable workplace skills while completing a total of 100 hours of work experience in the field. SABA Career Specialists and MVHS staff mentor and monitor students as they participate in a variety of healthcare functions in several MVHS departments.
Each student was presented with a completion certificate at the ceremony in recognition of their accomplishment.
