Administrators and Librarians Award Breakfast
On May 24, the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES hosted an Administrators and Librarians Award Breakfast. Several administrators and librarians from OHM BOCES component districts were awarded, and retiring school librarians were also honored.
Mary Tomaso, principal of Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School, received the Administrator of the Year award.
Allison Liverymore, who works at Westmoreland Primary Elementary and Upper Elementary schools, was given the Librarian of the Year award.
Marisa Cardillo, who teaches 12th grade English at Sauquoit Valley High School, was named Teacher Partner of the Year.
Lisa Douglas, who works at Benton Hall Academy Elementary School in Little Falls, was given the Library Support Staff of the Year award.
The school librarian retirees who were honored included: Susan Scheu from the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District, Wendy Egresits from the Whitesboro Central School District, and Jody Hildreth from the Sauquoit Valley Central School District.
The guest speaker for the event was Jennifer LaGarde, who is also known as Library Girl. LaGarde has more than twenty years of experience in public education and she holds National Board Certification in the area of School Library Media. Some of the awards and distinctions she has received include, but are not limited to, the Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award, and being named one of the Library Journal’s Movers & Shakers.
LaGarde has an award-winning blog called The Adventures of Library Girl, and she is the co-author of several books.
Congratulations to the administrators and librarians who received awards, and congratulations to each of the retiring school librarians.
