Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County
We believe that access to information, education, and resources are fundamental to the well-being of our land, economy, and people. Our programs and practices are responsive to the diverse needs and distinct cultural values of our region. We are committed to a work environment that is ethical, balanced, trusting, and fair. Our interactions are guided by a drive for service, compassion, and respect for one another and all members of society.
Child Care Council - Our program is a resource and referral education program dedicated to promoting quality, accessible child care in Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida counties. Child Care Council connects parents to child care, works with child care start-ups as in child care providers, offers ongoing training and education for child care providers.
Energy - Conservation and emerging renewable energy opportunities represent some of the most complex economic and environmental challenges of our time. CCE OC can help you learn about smart energy alternatives for your farm and your home.
Green and Healthy Homes initiative - The program manager creates and advocates for healthy, safe and energy-efficient housing for middle and low-income families in the city of Utica and Oneida County, NY. The vision for GHHI is “A world where no child’s potential is limited by unhealthy housing conditions”.
Home and Garden - The Master Gardener program is a national program of trained volunteers who partner with their county Cooperative Extension office to expand research-based, educational outreach to home gardeners in their communities. CCE OC is the resource for information on soils, site improvement, plant selection, proper plant care, eco-friendly practices, integrated pest management, and composting. We have the Parker F. Scripture Botanical Garden, internship.
