Mr. Dave Waters

Mr. Dave Waters first joined the OHM BOCES Career and Technical Education Center as an Electricity teacher in 2001. After retiring in 2019 and taking a three-year “intermission” to travel, he enthusiastically returned in 2022 to work with students and staff once again

Prior to joining BOCES, Mr. Waters worked as an electrician foreman on commercial, industrial construction projects for several years before earning his Master Electrician’s License and going into business as an industrial electrical contractor. Many of his contracts were on the former Griffiss Air Force Base and with other local businesses including Hemstrought's Bakeries, North Utica Shopping Center and the Glenwood Shopping Plaza. One of the highlights of his career was working as a foreman electrician at a live nuclear power plant, Pilgrim Station in Plymouth, MA.

Mr. Waters is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and completed the Electrical Engineering Technology program at Mohawk Valley Community College and the Construction Management program at Utica College. He also graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Oswego where he majored in Education. Additionally, Mr Waters completed the electrical apprenticeship training program with the IBEW and became a journeyman electrician.

Mr. Waters works diligently with his students to help them obtain an entry-level foundation with electrical theory, National Codes, blueprints and the latest hands-on techniques. Under his supervision, Mr. Waters’ class continues to complete many electrical installations throughout the OHM BOCES campus.

Dave’s experience in the field coupled with his patient, easy-going approach have earned him the respect and appreciation of his students.

In his free time, Mr. Waters enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and boating.
