Electricity/Mechatronics

Electricians install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment in homes, offices, institutions and industrial plants. Students learn residential, light commercial and industrial wiring through a variety of hands-on activities and projects. During the second year of the program, students will also receive instruction in solar photovoltaics using state-of-the-art equipment.

NEW - Mechatronics Pathway

Mechatronics is the manufacturing of today. It focuses on the mechanics, electronics, motor control systems and automation which drive the design, operation and maintenance of all modern complex machinery.

By the end of their senior year, free of charge, students will earn 20 credits through a combination of dual credit classes taught at OHM BOCES and MVCC by faculty on their campus. Through this program, students will gain an understanding of entry-level skills for the growing advanced manufacturing industry. After graduating high school, students have the option to continue their education at MVCC for an additional 11 credits, to complete a Mechatronics Certificate.

Graduates are prepared for immediate entry-level positions in operations, installation and maintenance of automated and robotically controlled systems with the option of a pre-apprenticeship through local and regional advanced manufacturers, such as Danfoss and Indium Corporation.
