8/09/23 - Summer School Fun Day

On August 9, the OHM BOCES Bridges Summer School held a Fun Day to celebrate the last day of summer school. Due to complications from COVID-19 throughout the past several years, the event was not held. This year, faculty, staff and students gathered together and enjoyed a day full of fun filled activities.

During the Summer School Fun Day, two inflatable water slides, an inflatable slip and slide, two inflatable obstacle courses and two inflatable bounce houses were provided for the students to enjoy. Students were encouraged to participate in the activities in their designated groups and times. Physical therapy and occupational therapy providers in addition to faculty and staff assisted the students on the inflatables and in other activities. 

In addition to the inflatables, the speech and vision therapists created an area for students that served as a sensory room. Students that chose not to or could not use the inflatables spent their time in the sensory area.

As a part of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, students earned “bucks” throughout summer school and were able to cash them in for fun activities such as the dunk tank, a game where the students threw balls at a target to dunk their teachers and an administrator in a tank of water. Many students cashed in their “bucks” and had a wonderful time engaging with each other, their teachers, administrators and therapists.
