Mr. Shawn Racioppa

Mr. Shawn Racioppa joined the OHM BOCES Career and Technical Education Center as an Advertising Design/Multimedia Productions teacher in 2008.

Prior to joining BOCES, Mr. Racioppa spent 15 years working as a graphic designer and a volleyball coach for 12 years. A long-time resident of central New York, he graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School, studied Advertising Design and Production/Marketing at Mohawk Valley Community College and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Rochester Institute of Technology. Mr. Racioppa continued his education in marketing and psychology at SUNY Institute of Technology and also earned his master's degree in special education from Touro College. He is certified in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Mr. Racioppa’s favorite part of his job is working with the students in his class and collaborating with other teachers and students. He says that the best part of teaching at CTE is getting to work with the community and organizations while teaching students graphic design, problem-solving, work ethic and real-life experiences. Students achieve real-life work and experiences in CTE that they would normally have to wait to get to college to learn. His love of graphic design and helping others make him a great teacher!

In his free time, Mr. Racioppa volunteers with SkillsUSA, the Ride for Mission Children and the Boilermaker Road Race, and enjoys hiking, video production, photography, playing volleyball and golfing.

“Failure doesn’t exist if you learn from it.”
