Performing Arts is available to all component districts. This service helps schools enrich students' lives by providing opportunities to experience the performing and visual arts.
Students in grades K-12 can attend theatrical performances produced by national touring companies right in their own backyard. School districts can take students to productions, reviews, exhibits or cultural and historical points of interest beyond their classroom. Field trips that incorporate curriculum connections to the arts and cultural studies can also be arranged through this service. Also available through Performing Arts is the Arts and Education Institute, which promotes collaboration between teachers and artists and brings connections into the classroom. During the summer, participating teachers attend an institute that includes workshop activities, performances and discussions about integration of the arts into lessons and learning. During the school year, teachers team with local artists to bring learning units designed around performance and exhibits into the classroom.
