The OHM BOCES Food Service Management Service offers shared, regional expertise in management, leadership, and support for school based federal Child Nutrition Programs. This Coser section offers full service management as well as customizable services including recipe development, nutrition analysis, menu planning, education, short or long term consultation and administrative review assistance for independently operated child nutrition programs.
This service allows districts to benefit from the shared resources while maintaining their status as a self operated School Food Authority (SFA).
School Food Service: Logistics, Operations and Warehousing

The service provides full-service execution and regulatory responsibility of a district’s food service program; it is designed to remove as much of the challenge of school meals as possible for the participating district. OHM BOCES will fully administer the program including:
- hiring, training, supervision of all warehouse and kitchen staff level staff
- the purchase, storage of food and supplies
- maintenance of equipment, preparation of nutritionally compliant and appealing, high quality food served in school kitchens
- budgeting, accounts payable, submission of claims to NYSED
- maintenance of student and staffing accounts
- the processing of Free and Reduced Applications and/or Income Collection Forms.
This shared service offers schools the opportunity to join the OHM BOCES School Food Authority as Recipient Agencies (RAs). Schools that wish to participate must also concurrently participate in the Management CoSer.
