  • Classroom:

    1.      Prepared and willing to work.  pencil/pen, notebook, and any other materials needed for the day.

     

    2.      Respect, Responsibility and Resourceful. 

    a.       Respect everyone and everything. 

    b.      Be responsible for your actions—own it!

    c.       Be resourceful, try first then ask for help.

     

    3.      Do your own work—Integrity.

     

    4.      Follow the campus Code of Conduct at all times.

     

    5.      Inappropriate language or gestures are not tolerated.

     

    Lab:

     

    Please know that the Culinary Arts kitchen is inspected bi-annually by the NYS Department of Health.  We will follow all Health Department rules and regulations.  

     

    1.      You must be in complete uniform—Appropriate pants and shoes plus chef’s coat, chef’s hat and white apron.  No exceptions.

     

    2.    Respect, Responsibility, Resourceful.

    a.       Respect everyone and everything. 

    b.      Be responsible for your actions—own it!

    c.       Be resourceful—present your ideas before doing them.. 

     

    3.      Follow the campus Code of Conduct at all times.

     

    4.      Inappropriate language or gestures are not tolerated.

     

    5.      Harassment of any kind is illegal and will not be tolerated.

     

    6.      Grooming will not take place in any culinary lab or dining facility.

     

    7.      Control your movement; you must move about the kitchen in a safe manner, i.e. no running, shoving, jumping, etc.  (Towel snapping is cause for ejection from the culinary arts program).

     

    8.      Everyone is expected to clean and sanitize equipment and work area, including sweeping and mopping when needed.

     

    9.      Absolutely no eating or drinking in food production areas.

     

     

     

     

    OHM CULINARY ARTS

     

    Clothing Requirements: 

    Chef Coat, Chef Hat & Apron must be purchased from OHM BOCES.  2013 Price is $33.00 per set. 

     

    PLEASE:

     

    No open toed shoes, includes sandals, flip-flops, webbed topped shoes, etc. 

          No high heels, or “roller shoes”

          Sneakers, rubber soled leather shoes or work boots are good.

     

    No shorts, skirts, Capri’s etc.  Pants must cover your legs completely.  Visible underwear is not permissible.  Chef pants are available for a fee; see your instructor for more information.

     

    No dangling jewelry or large rings.  Bangles or bracelets must be tight fitting. Necklaces must be tight or worn underneath your shirt. 

     

    No loose hanging clothing such as hooded jackets, oversized shirts, etc. in the lab areas. 

     

    Sleeveless or revealing shirts, belly shirts are not allowed - men or women. 

     

    Clothing with ads for cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, or negative or obscene gestures are not permitted.

     

    In the lab you must wear:  Chef’s jacket, white apron, chef’s hat, in addition to appropriate pants and shoes.   No exceptions.
