Available Presentations

  • The Planetarium offers a variety of presentations from which to choose from. Programs are approximately 45 minutes in length. Our team will happily work with teachers to modify presentation content and length prior to a visit to ensure the needs of all students are met. Below you will find a list of available programs for different grade levels. Additional presentation and grade level options will be added throughout the 2023-2024 school year. 

     

    Pre-K - Kindergarten:

    • Night & Day

      • Students will utilize simulations and models to reinforce concepts of observable patterns of the Sun, Moon, and stars. (P-ESS1-1)

     

    Grades 1-3:

    • Night & Day

      • Students will utilize simulations and models to reinforce concepts of observable patterns of the Sun, Moon, and stars. (1-­ESS1-1, 1-ESS1-2)

    • Going Through a Phase

      • Students will view the pattern of lunar changes over the course of a month and will utilize models to describe how the changing positions of the Earth, Moon and Sun cause these phases. (1­ESS1-1) 

    • Now You See It, Now You Don’t

      • Students will view cause and effect relationships between the Earth, Sun and Moon to explain solar and lunar eclipses. (1-ESS1-1, 1-PS4-2, 1-PS4-3) 

    • Greek Myths in the Sky

      • Explore various images that the people of Ancient Greece observed in the sky. Discover the stories behind some of the well known Northern Hemisphere constellations. (1-­ESS1-1)

     

    Grades 4-5:

    • A Change of Season

      • Students will explore the Earth’s tilt and revolution, along with varying degrees of insolation in each season. (5-ESS1-2)

    • Going Through a Phase

      • Students will view the pattern of lunar changes over the course of a month and will utilize models to describe how the changing positions of the Earth, Moon and Sun cause these phases. (5-ESS1-2)

    • Now You See It, Now You Don’t

      • Students will view cause and effect relationships between the Earth, Sun and Moon to explain solar and lunar eclipses. (5-ESS1-2)  

    • Welcome to the Neighborhood- Planets

      • Students will explore the solar system and the bodies that make it up. (5-ESS1-1, 5-ESS1-2)
