Mrs. Poniktera is a Cosmetology teacher at the Career and Technical Education Center. She has been working at OHM BOCES since 2001. She has a master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. In addition, Mrs. Poniktera works for the State of New York as a Cosmetology Examiner. She has many years of valuable experience in various specialty areas such as hairstylist, hair colorist, esthetics, waxing and nail care specialist.  

The cosmetology curriculum is designed to cover industry fundamentals and the basics of hair, skin, and nail care. Students are engaged in business training, working in a full-service salon setting at the center. The opportunity is available for students to complete internship hours and participate in other supervised activities outside the school setting. After completing the program students will be eligible to take the state board exams.
