    This conference is for: School Librarians, Technology Coordinators, Classroom Teachers, Special Area Teachers, Administrators and Curriculum Coordinators.

Keynote Speaker - Ellen Oh

  • Ellen Oh Ellen Oh is a former adjunct college instructor and lawyer with an insatiable curiosity for ancient Asian history. She loves martial arts films, K-pop, K-dramas and cooking shows, and is a rabid fan of "The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra" series. Ellen is the co-founder of We Need Diverse Books (WNDB), a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in children’s literature. She is the author of the middle-grade novel "The Spirit Hunters" Book 1 and Book 2, "Island of the Monsters," and the YA fantasy trilogy "Prophecy." She is the editor of WNDB’s middle-grade anthology "Flying Lessons and Other Stories," and the YA anthology "A Thousand Beginnings and Endings," out in June 2018. Originally from New York City, Ellen lives in Bethesda, MD with her husband and three children and has yet to satisfy her quest for a decent bagel.

Featured Speaker - London Ladd

  • London Ladd A graduate of Syracuse University with a BFA in Illustration. Ladd has illustrated numerous critically-acclaimed children’s books including "March On! The Day My Brother Martin Changed the World" (Scholastic), written by Christine King Farris, the older sister of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; "Frederick's Journey: The Life of Frederick Douglass" (Disney/Jump at the Sun), written by Doreen Rappaport; and "Midnight Teacher: Lilly Ann Granderson and Her Secret School" (Lee & Low Books), written by Janet Halfmann.

    Subtly textured acrylic paintings combine thick and thin layers with touches of pastel and colored pencil to bring his diverse subjects to life. Each unique image is steeped in intensity and emotion, a reflection of the artist himself. Varied influences range from comic books and graphic novels to classic and contemporary artists.

    His goal is to open an art center in Syracuse, NY so that young people and families can create their own art.
