Maple Glazed Carrots - A Farm to School Project

-
Each month OHM BOCES Food Service highlights a New York State Harvest of the Month (HOM) Item on the lunch menu. March featured maple and carrots. We are proud to have partnered with Chef Jim Pohl of Raquette Lake Navigation, the OHM BOCES Culinary Class, and Vernon-Verona Sherrill FFA (Future Farmers of America) for our March HOM Item- Maple Glazed Carrots. Chef Pohl shared his recipe for Maple Glazed Carrots and Chef Hoffmeister's culinary class agreed to make the Maple Glaze for our whole School Lunch program- over 5000 servings!! The FFA club from VVS generously donated their own, student-produced, REAL maple syrup to be used in the recipe. This is a very exciting partnership allowing us to serve an extra delicious HOM Recipe.
