  • SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference

Posted by John Stratton on 8/19/2018

OHM BOCES was represented at the 2018 National Conference by four students. Alexis Newbury. Area II VP and Nicollette Cardinal, Madison Decker and Andrew Tilbe, the NYS OSHA team. Alexis and Mrs. Petronella participated in training that will be benefical to our local chapter. While it was a busy time with Lexi attending the delegate sessions and the OSHA team competing, we were able to take in the TECHSPO and make visits to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory and also Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. As a reward for their hard work, students were also able to spend an evening at the Kentucky Kingdom amusement park. As always, the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference was a great learning experience and a fun trip that creates lifetime memories. Students, it's time to get to work. We look forward to taking another group to the 2019 National Conference. Come to our local SkillsUSA chapter meetings for information on how you could qualify for this exceptional experience.

  • SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference

Posted by John Stratton on 7/25/2017

OHM BOCES was represented at the 2017 National Conference by three students. Stiven Carrasco, the SkillsUSA NY President; Kathleen Martin, the SkillsUSA NY Treasurer and Sam McCloud, the SkillsUSA NY Champion Cabinetmaker attended. For the first three days, the students attended leadership training which will help them to be more effective leaders here at our local chapter and throughout their careers. After the leadership training, Stiven and Kathleen participated in the SkillsUSA National Delegate sessions while Sam went to work at his competition. The students also had the opportunity to take in a riverboat dinner cruise, a Louisville Bats baseball game and an evening at the Kentucky Kingdom amusement park. Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect for them was the chance to meet and make friends with fellow CTE students from all 50 states. As always, the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference was a great learning experience and a fun trip that creates lifetime memories.
