Coser 219 & Coser 419
Special Education Center
(Grades K-12)

Coser 219
This program is a combination of mental health services provided by the Pinefield Children’s Unit of the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, with educational services provided by Oneida BOCES. Typically, students are working toward Regents or local diplomas and must be cognitively capable of participating in treatment. The program is based on the PEM (Psycho-Educational Model) program developed in Boys Town. This is designed to be a time-limited placement with the goal to return students to a less restrictive environment as quickly as possible. Students participate fully in the state testing program.

These students have been identified as having severe management needs and have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). They are provided special education services as specified in the IEP. This service is cost-aided as a special education expense. There is a summer component to this program.

A non-special education component of this program is described in Coser 419.
Coser 419
This program will provide instructional services for students without an IEP (Individual Education Plan) in outpatient treatment. There is a summer component to this program. The cost for both programs is BOCES aidable.
