This program is designed for students with intense management needs who cannot be maintained in an 8:1:1 setting. The students enrolled have been released from residential placements or secure detention facilities. Additionally, students at risk of being placed in these facilities can be enrolled in this program. The 6:1:1 program strongly emphasizes community wrap-around services as well as social skill development. Social work services are provided to all students at a minimum of 2 x30 minutes/weekly. Instructional programs are provided within a structured behavior modification program. Alternative learning rooms and time-out rooms are used as integral parts of the behavior program component. Staff is trained in TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) developed at Cornell University. The educational curriculum is aligned with New York State Standards. Students fully participate in the New York State Assessments. There is a summer component to this program due to the students' intense management needs.
