There are three components to the 12:1:1 Program:

Mild Disabilities Program

Location: Sauquoit Valley Central School District

Grades:

K-12

The 12:1:1 Mild Program meets the diversified needs of students with mild disabilities. Students require specialized instruction in the areas of social-emotional skills, academic development, and career and technical education. The program utilizes career and technical programs and other outside agency programs to provide transition support services. Students participate in the state testing program and the alternate assessment program.

Moderate Disabilities Program

Location: Sauquoit Valley Central School District

Grades:

6-12

The 12:1:1 Moderate Program is designed for students with moderate disabilities. Students require specialized instruction in all areas, including social-emotional skills, physical skills, intellectual skills, and adaptive living skills. The emphasis of the program is to assist the student in achieving their maximum potential in self-sufficiency skills. The program utilizes support services and transition services with community agencies and the Career and Technical Education Center. Annual yearly progress is measured by the scales of independent behavior (SIB-R). Students are IEP diploma candidates and participate in New York State Alternate Assessment.

Transition Program

Location: New Hartford Central School District

Grades:

K-12

The 12:1:1 Transition Program is designed for students with disabilities and meets the special educational needs of learning disabled and emotionally disturbed children who require more assistance than in a resource room program. The curriculum emphasizes special educational techniques in perceptual and academic areas and provides counseling and career and technical education when specified on the Individual Education Plan (IEP). Students participate extensively in the general education program with push-in and/or supportive services. Diploma tracks include Regents/local and IEP diploma programs. Students participate fully in the state testing program

Related Services

Related services of speech therapy, counseling, visually-impaired services, hearing impaired services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and driver education training are charged separately.
