III. Issues for the Teacher
and Library Media Specialist |
A.
What is the question driving the project? |
What is the critical/evaluative
information we need to express a literary work? |
B. The Challenge for Students
(What product do you want students to create that will provide
evidence they're learning the standard and skill?) |
Working in pairs, students
will read and evaluate a book for content, theme, purpose, character
development and enjoyment. Using graphic organizers, students
will develop a power point presentation, to persuade classmates
to read their book. When presentations are finished students
will orally present to classmates. Each member will be ready
to answer questions about their story. |
C. Product Criteria (What criteria for
a product of "good" quality?) |
- PowerPoint - pictures are either drawn and scanned, or from
the internet.
- Content and rationale to sell book must be accurate and concise.
- Presentation must flow along with order and timing (absent
of clutter).
D. Standards Criteria (What evidence
is needed to determine that the desired standard is being achieved?) |
Knowledge - Students
will demonstrate an understanding of the elements of good literature
by applying ELA skills to recommend books to their peers. Targeted
indicator - Students will produce a list of (genre) recommended
readings for their peers. Evaluate for theme, setting, and type
of character. |
