“My
experience with RPE was excellent. It really helped me with interviews for
college, jobs and internships.” “My RPE
experience definitely enhanced my resume and made it easier to secure
internships and jobs. I think RPE needs to place more emphasis on how
important the experience is in serving as a stepping-stone for future
experiences. I truly credit the program for helping me to determine my
college major and for teaching me to be proactive in my internship and job
searches.” “Although
I did not pursue the field of elementary education that I explored through
RPE, the experience helped me realize that I love working with children of
all ages. I did change my major to high school English, but RPE showed me
how many choices for careers there really are. In the future, as a H.S.
English teacher, I would be honored to be able to provide such a vital
opportunity to seni “I got
from RPE exactly what I wanted. I learned more in those 7 months than I did
in two years of college, because RPE is hands-on. I am 100% glad to have
been in RPE!” “I found
RPE essential in helping me make decisions about my future and my college
major. It offered me a chance to try out what I had an interest in and
decide whether I wanted to pursue it or whether I needed to make a change.” “I was
very hesitant in declaring a major before college, but after RPE, I was able
to make a decision.” “My
experience was a completely positive and exciting one. I would have
regretted not participating. Though the experience did not necessarily help
me choose a college major, it did orient my career goals. Overall, the
program was considerably effective and helpful in guiding my decision for a
career in medicine.” “My
internship taught me what I did not want to do. In this respect, it was
valuable!” “Through RPE I gained
experience working with physicians I may have never worked with on my own
and even learned that certain areas of medicine probably were not for me.
The experiences 1 gained and the recommendations I received from some of the
physicians I worked with helped me in accomplishing my dreams of being
accepted to medical school.”
“I
learned more than just about engineering things; I learned how to speak to a
supervisor or a boss, how to address problems I encounter, and what it feels
like to be part of something important.” “I did
not expect the Regional Program for Excellence to prove as helpful as it
was. Not only did it calm my anxieties about my future, but it secured a
profession that I can now look forward to with certainty.” “Now my
future career aspirations have a much stronger foundation and I am confident
in saying that I will be going to college for the right thing. As was
said at orientation, there is seemingly nothing worse than spending a lot of
time, effort and money for college, only to find that when you are done, you
do not truly enjoy your work.” “My
involvement with the Regional Program for Excellence has not only provided
me with the invaluable opportunity to explore my career options and discover
my likes and dislikes within the medical field, but has endowed upon me
lifelong skills and self-knowledge that will give me a head start in the
real world.” “Knowledge
is the key to effective decision making, and the Regional Program for
Excellence has given me the key. In this respect, my internships have been
invaluable. I am now certain that I will study some aspect of the healing
sciences in college.” “I
learned that I am capable of overcoming my nervousness when walking into an
unknown work situation. It became evident that a friendly, accepting, and
relaxed working environment can lead to satisfactory productivity.” “Reading
a description of a profession may give you basic information, but you can
never really understand what is involved with the day-to-day work of a
particular field without actually being involved with the people who do it
each day and experiencing it first hand.” “I have
also learned to value my education more and it has increased my desire to
learn as much information as I can. Someday, I hope to become a successful
part of the medical field and expose another student just like me to one of
the greatest experiences of her life.” “Not
only have my experiences been truly amazing, but I've found that they have
been quite helpful in areas such as college applications and college
interviews.” “I have
learned a lot through this program that I would have not been exposed to
otherwise at this point in my life. I think it is quite an advantage to not
go into classes in veterinary medicine completely blind, maybe only a little
near sighted.” |
