Itinerant Services
The following itinerant services are available for Special
Education Programs:
- School Psychologist - The BOCES school psychologist
is available for service on the Committee on Special Education,
but cannot serve as chairman.
- School Social Worker
- Speech
- Visually Impaired - Committee on Special
Education referrals should indicate the least frequency and maximum
duration per week as appropriate to the student's needs. Daily
service is possible.
- Hearing Impaired - The nature of this service
generally precludes full-day assignments. Committee on Special
Education referrals should indicate the least frequency and maximum
duration per week as appropriate to the student's needs. Daily
service is possible.
- Occupational Therapy - Services of a licensed
occupational therapist and certified occupational therapy assistants
are available on an itinerant basis. The therapist evaluates
the referred student, develops and supervises the program and
consults as appropriate. The therapy assistants provide the direct
service for the student. Committee on Special Education referrals
should indicate the least frequency and maximum duration per
week as appropriate to the student's needs.
- Program Specialist - The Special Programs
Coordinator provides participating districts with a professional
administrator to coordinate special programs on an itinerant
basis. Programs may include compensatory, special education,
gifted and talented and others.
- Special Education Resource Room - The program
must conform to Part 200 regulations.
