12:1:1 Program (204) School Based

(up to 12 students with 1 teacher and 1 teacher assistant)

There are three components to the 12:1:1 Program.

One component meets the diversified social-emotional, academic and career and technical needs of children with mild disabilities unable to sufficiently profit from placement in a regular educational program.

Another component is designed for students with moderate disabilities and develops skills and positive attitudes in the areas of social growth, intellectual skills, physical growth, aesthetic areas and pre-career and technical training that lead to as great a degree of student self-sufficiency as possible.

The third component of the 12:1:1 Program is designed for students with disabilities and meets special educational needs of learning disabled and emotionally disturbed children who are not more appropriately serviced in a resource room program or the Center-Based Program. The curriculum emphasizes special education techniques in perceptual and academic areas and provides counseling and career and technical education when specified on the Individual Education Plan (IEP). Diploma tracks include local, IEP and Regents on a selected basis.

Career and technical education is provided for students when they are ready, as indicated in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Related services of speech therapy, counseling, visually-impaired services, hearing impaired services, occupational therapy, physical therapy and driver education training are also available.
