Work Study/Internships
Work Study
Work study programs are designed to bridge the transition from
school to work. Although there are specific guidelines for the
programs, students train off campus four days a week and spend
the fifth school day doing related training in the Career and
Technical Education Center classroom.
Students involved in work study programs are monitored by
the BOCES work study/placement coordinator, who makes periodic
visits to the job location to observe student performance and
to maintain personal contact with the employer.
Internships
During school hours, a student may be assigned to observe and
participate in a variety of activities related to his/her curriculum
at an off campus site. Students do not receive wages and may
not replace a paid employee.
New Visions Internships
Students in the New Visions program spend four days a week in
work place internships in either the legal, health, engineering/technology,
communications or business management fields. One day each week
is spent in the classroom working on related curriculum projects
or hearing guest speakers or talking field trips.
