Early Childhood Education I and II
One or Two Year Program
First-year Early Childhood Education students operate a laboratory
nursery under the direction of the program's teacher. The nursery,
located at the Career and Technical Education Center, gives students
practical experience working with three- and four-year-old children.
Second-year students gain practical experience working in
two 10-week internships at local kindergartens, day care centers
or special education programs.
Many students go on to post-secondary schooling in a two-year
human service or early childhood education program, as well as
four-year educational programs.
Students completing the program may work as a paraprofessional
in the following areas: teacher aide, child care worker, nursery
school attendant or home child care worker.
