Alternative High School Equivalency Program and
High School Equivalency Program

The Alternative High School Equivalency Program is for students, 16 and 17 years of age, who transfer from regular secondary school programs. Students are enrolled a minimum of 12 hours per week to prepare for the high school equivalency examination. In addition, students may also be enrolled in approved vocational-technical courses. Parental and school district permission is required to enroll. Eighteen to 21-year-old students who have dropped out of school may also enroll in a vocational-technical program while completing GED requirements if permitted by the student's school district of residence.

In the High School Equivalency Program, 18 to 20-year-old students who have dropped out of school may also enroll in the GED program and daytime occupational education programs. The eligibility requirements of the program for 16 and 17-year-old students are waived.
