Lincoln AcademyLincoln Academy is an experienced-based, self-paced academic program for students in grades 9-12. It is a component of the comprehensive alternative education system. Lincoln Academy provides potential dropout students with a supportive family-like atmosphere that provides students with opportunities to succeed in an educational setting. Students are responsible for developing their educational goals with a learning coordinator. Credits for diploma requirements are earned in a variety of ways, including selected field trips, work-based resource sites, independent study, work-study programs and apprenticeships. A computer lab allows students to develop technology and research skills through classroom projects. One part of the Lincoln Academy program is housed on the Career and Technical Education Center campus. These students receive one-half day of academic instruction and one-half day of vocational technical training. Lincoln Academy prepares students so they may successfully return to their home school districts and complete their high school education. Students gain solid academic skills and develop the social skills needed to be successful in school and work. As a result of this program, many students learn to value education and often pursue a post-secondary education after graduation. |
