Many
employers who have hired workers with disabilities say they are
hard working, efficient, loyal and productive employees. Through
this program, students with disabilities enter the labor market
with the assistance of a job coach and earn competitive wages
and the support they need to sustain competitive jobs. Students
work 20 hours or more per week with a job coach. A job coach is
provided at no fee to the employer until the job is learned. As
the need for a job coach diminishes, additional long-term employer
assistance is provided by a follow-along specialist who regularly
visits the job site and helps the worker maintain success on the
job.
