Students Participate in Macy's
"Shop for a Cause"
On
Sat., Oct. 13, 2007, CTEC Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, and Nail
Technology students participated in
Macy's Department Store's "Shop for
a Cause," with proceeds going to the
American Heart Association.

Here's how the "Shop for a Cause"
program works. Macy's
donates shopping passes to regional
and local charities in all of its
markets around the country,
including to the American Heart
Association as an extension of
Macy's national support of the Go
Red For Women movement. The passes
are then sold by the charitable
organizations to the public for $5
each. The charity keeps all of the
proceeds. Pass holders then redeemed their
passes at any Macy's store on
October 13 to receive a coupon for
20 percent off most men's, women's,
kids, and accessories merchandise
and 10 percent off most home items.

Cosmetology and Nail Technology students joined together to provide services for
the Macy’s charity event. Students performed free mini-manicures
for two hours. Macy’s customers were delighted with
the services our students offered. Students who attended this event were Samantha
Thomas (Proctor), Veronica
Germanovoich (Sauquoit), Alicia
Militano (Proctor), Meagan Hartmann
(Remsen), and Deanna Purdy (Clinton).

Mrs. Nuzzo, Mrs. Soron, and four
Culinary Arts students also participated
in the event. The students baked
cookies, a cake, and prepared Martha
Stewart's recipe for black bean
chili. The students greeted guests
and had customers decorate their own
cookie with Halloween decorations
and frosting. Students also passed
out free samples of wedding cake and
black bean chili. Students who
attended the event from Culinary
Arts were Jeremey Christian
(Sauquoit), Nicole Brady
(Brookfield),
Alina Randall (Oriskany), and
Stephanie Lorraine (Sauquoit).

Everyone had a great time and we are
all proud of our students for
donating their time and expertise to
this worthy cause. |
