Chain Saw Safety Instructor Presents to CTEC Students
On Sept.19, 2007, Dan Tilton, a chain saw safety instructor, spoke to seniors in the Conservation & Outdoor Power programs. The presentation included saw selection and safety devices; saw chain function and maintenance; cause, effect, and prevention of kickback; personal protective equipment; and a demonstration of modern felling, limbing, and bucking techniques.
Dan Tilton - BRIEF BIO:
Dan Tilton first learned about chain saws from his father and grandfather, who made their livelihoods in the business, and then trained under two internationally-renowned forestry experts in Sweden.

As a safety instructor for the last 25 years, Dan has traveled extensively training woodcutters at all levels of experience in the safe and efficient use of chain saws and brush cutters. He is featured in a professional, five-part series of videos on chain saw safety. Dan is the National Safety for the Tilton Equipment Company in Rye, New Hampshire.
