Meet the Instructor

Nail specialists are a sought out, specialized component of the health and beauty industry. This program prepares students to become licensed nail specialists. Students learn the art of manicures, pedicures, natural nail enhancement and artificial nail enhancement, including tips, wraps, and acrylic overlay and sculptured nails.

Students in the program receive in-depth training from experienced instructors. After skills have been developed to a professionally acceptable level, students perform nail and waxing techniques on patrons in a laboratory setting.

Those who complete the training will meet the requirements of the 250 hours to take the New York State Nail Specialist licensing examination. The waxing component covers professional requirements, including safety and health precautions and temporary and permanent hair removal. Students will exceed the 75 hours worth of training required to take the New York State Waxing Technician licensing examination. 

Students who complete and pass the examination can seek employment as a manicurist/pedicurist, salon owner, nail care products sales person, product educator, nail technician, or waxing technician.
