A new partnership in Health Care Education with Oneida County
BOCES, Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare and Mohawk Valley Community
College prepares students for an exciting and rewarding career
in the nursing field.
Students
are given the opportunity to earn while they learn through a paid
clinical experience. There are various exit points (CNA, LPN,
and RN) and the opportunity to have a rewarding career with excellent
salaries and benefits. Students make a seamless transition from
high school to college and school to career through an integrated
program of work and education.
Students
enroll in and complete the CNA program during their junior year
of high school. CNA and Math A are a prerequisite for entrance
into the second year of the program (Foundations of Nursing).
The curriculum
for this program is approved by Mohawk Valley Community College
(MVCC), and students may earn six college credits upon successful
completion of the Excelsior College exam with qualifying scores.
Students passing the Excelsior College exam will enter MVCCs
Nursing Program as second-semester freshmen. Students are eligible
to apply for College Tuition Assistance from Faxton-St. Lukes
Healthcare Center.
