Mohawk Valley Construction Career Day
On Oct. 19, the Mohawk Valley Construction Industry Development presented the 2006 Mohawk Valley Construction Career Day at the Armory in Rome, NY. The day offers an exciting opportunity for high school students to explore and experience the diverse careers available in the construction industry.

The Career Day program included interactive exhibits, trade industry displays, and demonstration projects…all requiring student involvement. The program was conducted and supervised by construction professionals and allowed students to participate in hands-on activities. The day's activities included operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers and excavators, skilled trades people demonstrating various crafts such as: bricklaying, concrete finishing, welding, plumbing, electrical installation, materials testing and pipe laying. Also represented was technology-based construction careers such as architecture, engineering, estimating and surveying. Booths were also available for area colleges to provide information on their construction related programs as well as for employers to provide information on job potential in the Mohawk Valley.
