Oneida BOCES Purchases New Auto Body Spray Booth
April 5, 2004 (New Hartford, NY) - The Oneida County BOCES Career and Technical Education Center recently purchased a state-of-the-art down draft spray booth as part of their five-year equipment plan.
The new spray booth is environmentally safer for students to use and allows them to become familiar with the technology used in professional body shops. "The purchase was unanimously supported by the cooperative board and consultant committee and advisory council and mirrors the state-of-the-art equipment standards used in business and industry for automotive painting," said Mary Annette Danella, principal of the Career and Technical Education Center.

CTEC Presents "THINK FIRST" To Students
April 5, 2004 (New Hartford, NY) - The Oneida County BOCES Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) presented to approximately 100 students ways to prevent traumatic spinal cord and head injuries with the help of "THINK FIRST."
The "THINK FIRST" program, which is sponsored by the Injury Control Subcommittee of the Herkimer-Oneida Health Promotion Coalition and St. Elizabeth Hospital Trauma Center, travels to various high schools to educate students about injury prevention. The presentation, which was brought to BOCES by CTEC school nurse, Ginny Harris, consisted of a short movie, a talk by a health educator, Jan Simpson, and a man who has sustained a spinal cord injury, Dennis English.
Driving accidents are the major cause of traumatic spinal cord injuries and serious head injuries. Each year this affects about 24,000 people in New York state and at least 50 percent range from ages 15-24.
