Meet the Instructor

Students in this program focus on small animal care as they study and learn about basic animal science (veterinary) terminology, animal behavior, safe handling and restraint of small animals, anatomy and physiology, basic parasitology, first aid, health and disease, nomenclature, basic grooming, and basic record keeping. Emphasis is also placed upon careers in animal science, NYS animal laws, and the small animal hospital environment.

Students will be exposed to several guest speakers and visit sites to observe first-hand how animal science applies to a variety of jobs and occupations. The overall goal of this program is to allow students the opportunity to investigate the animal science field to determine whether or not they wish to pursue a possible career in Animal Science.
